Laura Tenschert & Definitely Dylan
Laura Tenschert’s approach to Bob Dylan is marked by open-mindedness, good humor, deep thinking and research, and eye-opening (and mind-opening) insight. She treats all of Dylan’s art—recordings, performances, the written word, interviews, and the visual arts of drawing, painting, sculpture, and films. She stays connected to the deep and broad world of Bob Dylan through conversations and interactions with other Dylan scholars and fans. She spans Dylan enthusiasms, from fandom to scholarship. She is a leading, often consulted, voice in Dylan studies.

Dylan at 80: It Used to Go Like That And Now It Goes Like This (2021), edited by Gary Browning & Constantine Sandis
Dylan at 80
(and simultaneously the 60th anniversary of his arrival in New York City) is comprised of 35 chapters plus a Foreword, Prologue, and Afterword from a diverse set of Dylan thinkers, including musicians, academics, fans, poets, actors, and Dylanologists. The chapters are short, averaging just over six pages, and many start with the story of how Dylan’s art had touched the author as an introduction to a topic that will be examined in depth. The chosen topics show the multifaceted nature of the artist at the center of it all, the richness of the Dylan community, and the many ways of connection between the two.
Book Club Member Christopher Vanni is our discussion coordinator for the meeting.
